I would much rather....

....jump one of the red concrete balls in the Target parking lot than....

.....a very bright and upright show jump vertical.

Am I the only person who sees average and run-of-the-mill objects in everyday life as potential cross-country fences? Even though it is skinny, round, and red, I just think the Target ball has a more inviting shape. I am really struggling to feel balanced down to verticals of late. Maybe I'm just out of practice, or maybe it's a perspective issue. It will get better with time this spring.

Now, to test my theoretical bravery against the Target ball. Do you dare me?

Despite the "concrete issues" involved in the Target parking lot, I share your "obsession" though I rather term it the "eventer's lens" of seeming everything as a potential jump. I think your Target ball wouldn't be blinked at once in showing jumping - so why not eventing? What I really want to know is why show jumping is different than dressage? Why don't we have a standard arena, with standard tests that we learn in advance and a judge? Anyway - love the blog! keep it up!

iI am always scoping out things I would love to jump, and when I was younger I actually "borrowed" some things, like road block barriers and brought them home into our ring. They made great jumps lol
